Funny love - Lucy Lastic

Princess Lucinda Belle-Weather d'Lastic
(Lucy Lastic)

Lucinda Belle-Weather d'Lastic
seems such a long name for a tart.
It's not as if she hails from Bakewell --
the hub of the pastry chef's art.

Her daddy saw fit to indulge her --
his 'Princess' deserving the best.
Now Lucy's accustomed to lazing --
the grafting she'll leave to the rest.

Young Nigel is her latest muggins --
she expects to be chauffeured at will.
When Nigel asks why, she is puzzled
and flashes her eyelids at Bill.

Are we partly the servants of instinct?
Making children whatever the cost:
If we're poor, or we're sick or we're homeless
Or the state appears war-like and lost?

Poor Nigel escapes with a bottle
whenever his routine allows
But he can't explain what he's escaping
As he dreams of being herded by cows

Still Lucy's no clue what his beef is
surely family has always been thus?
Maybe Lucy's as much of a victim
of the program that's labelled her 'puss'.

Some moan of 'the oldest profession'
But Lucy takes care what she hears.
The illusions that Daddy gave to her
feel pleasant -- for the first twenty years.
